Coach Sappho's Pride Festival Raffle to Benefit Baltimore's Gay and Lesbian Community Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Contact Barb Elgin

Baltimore, Maryland - June 8, 2006 - Barb Elgin, President and  Founder of CoachSappho.com, has decided to give back to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community by donating all proceeds from Baltimore Gay Pride Festival raffle to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center of Baltimore and Central Maryland (the GLCCB).

Elgin commented on her philanthropic effort by stating, "I decided to give all monetary proceeds from Coach Sappho's `Heart-2-Heart' Raffle because there are so many outstanding and needy gay and lesbian organizations doing so much to make a positive impact. I selected the GLCCB because while I am currently living in Florida, I am a native Baltimorean. In the 1980's I worked as a switchboard volunteer there. The GLCCB has a multitude of wonderful programs for adults and youth and they depend heavily on private donations to continue to do their incredible work."

Craig Wiley, Executive Director of the GLCCB, responded to Elgin's generosity by stating, "We are always tremendously grateful when community members take the initiative to mobilize their resources to benefit our organization. Our supporters should know that every dollar raised helps keep the GLCCB open and available for groups and meetings seven days per week, as well as to bolster our expanding programming and outreach in the community."

The raffle and drawing will be held at Baltimore, Maryland's June 18, 2006 Gay Pride Festival. Tickets may be purchased for one dollar each at Coach Sappho's pride booth, number 133. Prizes include overnight accommodations at the Victorian Alexander House Booklovers Bed and Breakfast in Princess Anne, Maryland, (recently featured on the Today Show) and the historically elegant 4 East Madison Inn in Mt. Vernon, an Avon gift basket from Baltimore businessman Michael Bracey, tickets to Toby's Dinner Theater, gift certificates from businesses such as Bella's Beauty Salon in Canton, Millefleurs Florist, The Spot (a tattoo/body piercing shop in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware), several life coaching scholarships from gay and gay affirmative coaches and more.
